Things to Do During Pregnancy to Have An Intelligent Baby
A pregnant mother’s diet, fitness, and emotional state can affect the baby’s brain development.
The following things you can do to boost your baby’s IQ.
1. Eat Healthy Food
Eat healthy food that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, as it is crucial for the fetus’s healthy development.
The fetal brain also requires omega-3 fatty acids for development. So include fish, walnuts, beans, leafy greens, mustard oil, ghee, flax seeds, and chia seeds in your diet.
Exercise releases endorphins which are feel-good chemicals that make their way to your baby, aiding in brain development.
Consuming foods like eggs that contain choline while pregnant is very good for your developing baby, and has long-term beneficial effects on the child’s memory.
4. Include Folate in Your Diet
Studies have shown that taking folic acid supplements, at least two weeks before conception and continuing to take them until the eighth week of pregnancy is beneficial.
This is because it lowers the chance of giving birth to a child with autism and neural tube defects.
5. Include Iodine in Your Diet
Babies born to moms with low thyroid hormone levels were found to be more likely to have low IQs. Thus, you need to include iodine in your diet.
6. Get Some Sunshine
Vitamin D is essential for the development of the strong bones of the baby. Some unpublished studies have linked vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women to autism in the baby.
So ensure you get enough sunshine as your body synthesizes vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight.
7. Avoid Alcohols, Drugs, and Nicotine
Keep in mind, avoid Alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and caffeine because they can cause serious developmental disorders in the developing baby. They also affect fetal brain development. During pregnancy, it is very important to avoid exposure to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, etc.
8. Talk and Read to Your Baby
The fetus can distinguish between voices and can recognize the mother’s voice. So talking singing or reading to the baby in your womb can help in her brain development.
9. Massage Your Belly and Remain Stress-Free
Gently massaging or rubbing your belly can help stimulate your baby’s brain and make her respond to the stimulus with increased activity.
It’s also important for you to avoid stress and remain calm throughout the pregnancy as stress can harm your baby’s brain development, and can also cause premature delivery.
10. Avoid Exposure to Infections and Toxins
Exposure to toxins such as lead, cadmium, mercury, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and pesticides can cause serious developmental defects in the fetus.
You should also avoid eating king mackerel, swordfish, and other large ocean fish as they contain a large amount of toxin.
Following these tips during pregnancy will increase your chances of having an intelligent, and healthy baby.
